One Book, One Community


Pat Carlson, East Richland Middle School librarian, has received a grant from the Carrie Winter Charitable Trust to start a One Book, One Community program. This program is an excellent way to get everyone in the community talking about books.
Pat has selected Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings as the book to read. This book is set on the Maryland shore among people who fish for crabs for a livinig. Three boys who are best friends are at the center of a tough dilemma that seems innocent enough at first, but develops into serious issues about responsibilities, expectations and the right decision to make.
We have four copies for checkout at the Anderson Library at OCC. The book may be checked out for four days, since it is an easy read for adults. There will be book discussions in several locations including the middle school, the public library, and Ophelia's Cup in March, so look for information in the newspaper.
