The Lost Painting: The Quest for a Caravaggio Masterpiece

Jonathan Harr's new book is moving up the bestseller lists quickly. It is the true story of a lost painting by 16th Century Baroque painter, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, but reads like a thriller, much like Harr's earlier book, A Civil Action. Readers learn details about art restoration and follow the paths of Sir Denis Mahon, a 91 year old Caravaggio scholar, and graduate student, Francesca Cappelletti, as they converge with Irish restorer, Sergio Benedetti to solve the mystery of the whereabouts of a particular Caravaggio painting. Here is an example of a book where non-fiction is as interesting, if not more so, than fiction. Enjoy!
